1. Install the
Comet
USB driver: |
If you have not yet installed the Comet USB driver, then at this stage, DO NOT connect the
Comet device to a USB port on the PC.
To enable communication between your
Comet
device and your PC, you must first install the
Comet
USB driver onto your PC.
Please start the USB driver installation and
follow the on-screen instructions,
OR follow
these step-by-step instructions.
You have to install the Comet USB driver
only once.
For
more information please click
here.
The USB driver enables the communications between your Comet USB device
and your PC.
If, by mistake, you did connected the Comet
device to a USB port on the PC before installing the driver for
it, then the "Found New Hardware" Balloon (Windows XP)
will show up, and the 'Found New Hardware wizard' will start up. In this
case
just cancel the Found New Hardware wizard
and proceed with the driver installation
according to the instructions on this page,
except that NOW leave your Comet connected !
If you have previously installed the USB driver for Comet,
then your Comet device should be automatically
recognized by your computer when connecting your Comet to your PC
by the USB cable.

2. Confirm Install of ActiveX control within your browser:
ActiveX control enables the communications
between your Comet and your browser.
It is automatically installed when needed
- after your confirmation. (e.g. as on the next page).
It is recommended to use the USB with the Internet Explorer browser
version 6 or later.
For
more information please click
here.
The ActiveX control is a browser technology that allows the communication between
the PC and the browser.
The ActiveX control is needed on the next page - after you click on Continue below
(where communication between Comet and the browser actually
takes place. It is also needed on other pages that carry out communication between
Comet and the browser, but you need to install it only
once).
ActiveX is usually enabled by default on all browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer).
It is automatically downloaded and installed when needed, usually after you instruct and/or confirm your browser to do so.
When needed, 2 simple and straightforward click-instructions are automatically presented.
If use of ActiveX control is not enabled within your browser, then you will have to enable it.
When ActiveX control is needed (e.g. as on the next page), instructions on how to enable it are given, or you can click
here
to print the instructions for enabling use of ActiveX control, as a reference
when it is needed.
Enabling use of ActiveX control or installing it is done only once. There is no
need to repeat this procedure each time you navigate to the next page, or to other
pages that carry out communication between Comet and
the browser.
